well my tumblr got hacked.
please ignore that last post.
If you didn’t see it - AWESOME.
If you did, I’m sorry.
I was a little vicious to bikers yesterday, so today I’ll share this diagram of how awesomeness of a biker’s leg muscles.
The muscles usage of a cyclist and which muscles fire through the pedal stroke.
As both a car and bicycle user, I can not stand it when bicyclists act as if they can pick and choose which pedestrian and motor vehicle laws they follow or ignore.
Bicyclists are vehicles. They are held to the laws of the road. This is a two way street. On one hand is the benefit of being able to demand respect from drivers. On the other hand is the responsibility to respect drivers.
All you’re doing when you dump all over the rules of the road is giving everyone around you a terrible opinion of bikers and making it hard for future bikers to gain that much needed respect.
This rant was provoked by OneSpeedGo’s post. Great biker’s blog, check it out.
I’m a bit of a sucker for giveaways. I get luck now and then so why not.

CRITERION CORNER GIVEAWAY!!!!
hey there. it’s been a while since i’ve randomly given stuff away, and that doesn’t jive well with my philosophy that love and / or readership should be shamelessly bought. so in honor of the holiday season - and to make up for lost time / clear my shelf of some extra stuff i’ve got lying around - i thought i’d throw the biggest Criterion Corner giveaway yet.
- DVD of Sidney Lumet’s 12 ANGRY MEN!
- Blu-ray of Claude Chabrol’s LES COUSINS!
- 1 DVD box set of Krzysztof Kieslowski’s THREE COLORS! (opened but never watched and in mint condition… long story)
- 1 MYSTERY DVD!!!! (maybe a Criterion film, maybe just something I want to share with a stranger. definitely previously loved).
TO ENTER: just “like” and / or Re-blog this post. each note will count as a separate entry, so every fellow blogger can therefore submit a maximum total of 2 entries.
giveaway will be closed at 12 P.M. EST on Friday, 12/3/2011. 1 winner will be randomly selected from the notes. so the odds should be okay if not super awesome, but someone’s gonna get some great stuff for nothing.
good luck, and thanks so, so much for reading the blog and my Criterion Corner column on movies.com!
Just a reminder.
Not 100% sure I agree with Diagram 1. Violence in reaction to violence is not really the best policy (especially when initial violence is perpetrated by people with body armor and guns), but that’s a whole other post.
but Diagram 2 is spot on.
“I’m unhappy with everyone in the student body,” Strone said. “They’re taking the focus off the (child sex assault) victims. Penn State is known for integrity. The administration let us all down.”
Alicia Clarke, a 21-year-old from New Jersey, added: “I think people are angry. But it’s important for everyone to remember the real victims.
At least some people are keeping some perspective. I do disagree with the “everyone in the student body” statement. There are smart enough students somewhere out there.
I feel a great deal of shame for my hometown [and associated University] when I wake up with a text from a friend in Arizona asking about the riots.
Gather, Pray, Demonstrate, etc, but please do it for the right reasons. Penn State [and in turn State College] must accept these terrible events, but please do with grace and do it appropriately.
And a word to the media. Calm Down. Go Home.
“Women began to weep.” a dramatic way to say one girl cried possibly?
“The students filled two city blocks near the campus and turned over a media van before earth-moving equipment was brought in to right the vehicle. Members of the crowd also damaged at least two light poles.” Have you been the State College, hardly what I would refer to as ‘city blocks.’
The storied are piling up, people are saying all sorts of ridiculous things, and this weekend is going to be a shit show.
Maybe I’m giving in to the mentality by posting this post, so be it.
Just think a bit before tipping another van.
UPDATE: I saw a friend’s Facebook status that included the line, “…I think the media should spend a little more time on the person who actually commited these heinous acts instead of [JoePa]…” got me thinking. Should they? or should they just shut the hell up and leave us the fuck alone because really there is very little to say right now. If you want to know more about the case, read the Grand Jury Report. This case is going to drag on in the courts for quite some time, right now its hot news, it’s money making news, but its not important. None of it really is. Why are they going to print in a paper that will better anyone’s lives? Like I said before. Media, Calm Down. Go Home.
Our friends at Random House Children’s Books have generously agreed to donate one brand-new book for each new follower we gain on Tumblr, Facebook, and Twitter this week. Those books will go to thousands of schools and programs serving kids from low-income families across the country.
